The latest dragon clutch has hatched successfully. Yet for the time being, the focus seems to have slid off the dragons. There's been a spike in volcanic activity around Landing, and for once, it's not Thread the colonists are worried about.

  • To claim an adoptable, post a reply to this thread with the name of the dragon you'd like. The appearance and personality of the rider are up to you, besides what has already been written. Please note that riders for adoptable dragons should follow canon Impression rules--that is, all of these bronzes and browns should have male riders.

  • For the first three days, only players who have failed to Impress may make a claim on an adoptable. After October 12th, the adoptables will become open for anyone to claim.

  • You have one week to post the dragon and rider's finished profile after claiming. If they are not posted within this time, the dragon will be posted back up for adoption.

  • If you adopt a dragon and subsequently go inactive, the dragon's original profile will be made available for adoption again (i.e. without any additional edits you might have made). What will be done with your character depends on what you wrote in their permissions.

Beiarth; the Friesian Bronze

user posted image

Name: Beiarth (bay-arth)
Colour: Bronze
Hex Code: #5d5532
Age: 0 [h. 09.08]
Height: 18.1hh

Appearance:

With a strong yet elegant build, Beiarth always moves with grace--especially in the air. He will always be active, taking great pleasure in exercise and keeping himself in top condition. And, indeed, he will come to be renowned for his acrobatic flight-style, almost seeming to dance through the air with each flap of his wings. Still, he is not nearly as fast or as agile as a smaller dragon, and his powerful frame is best-suited to the role of a bronze within the wing--only Beiarth is sure to add a sense of style to everything he does.

His hide is very dark and slightly greenish-bronze in tone, with lighter golden highlights here and there. Faint flecks of gold are scattered throughout, seeming to glimmer slightly in the sunlight whenever he moves. Due to the way the light falls on him, it is sometimes hard to tell exactly how large he is whenever he is on the move; his form almost seems to melt along with his movements.

Personality:

Charming, charismatic, and carefree, Beiarth moves through life with a sense of levity and grace. With his outgoing nature and his pleasant sense of humour, he will easily make friends and acquaintances among others. Few things seem to really faze him: he is most often relaxed and merry. Beiarth adores company, especially if he is the center of it--and he seems to be happiest when he has a small entourage of friends and admirers around him.

It is not surprising, then, that Beiarth is a show-off. He knows all too well that he's handsome, and he takes pride in it. He tends towards feats of daring and recklessness in an effort to receive praise. Some may label him as a vain brat, and they wouldn't be completely wrong. Arrogant and energetic, Beiarth will be the first among his siblings to try something ridiculous or dangerous in an effort to impress those around him. He is often careless, and as his brother Baliuth once said--he has an empty head. Beiarth can be very thoughtless and self-centered, tending to act more on impulse than careful thought; he's more brawn than brains, truthfully, and will need an astute rider to keep him from accidentally hurting himself or others.

Still, Beiarth is ultimately good-natured. Though he is secretly insecure about his skill and appearance, one reason for his constant need to show-off (besides that he simply enjoys it)--he will always be there to lift his rider up. He will be happy to distract his rider from any sorrow moods they might have. Beiarth will often suggest that they go on a flight to clear their heads--and with his somewhat wild turns and dives, any ride on Beiarth's back is sure to be delightfully fun (or terrifying).

Beiarth will need a strong rider to keep him well disciplined, however. He tends towards laziness and indolence--and while he'll do as he's told, he's not good at remembering his duties on his own. He's constantly afraid of messing up or making mistakes in front of others, and as a result he'll often shirk his duties--rather irrationally believing that it is better not to try at all than to try and fail. He will need a gentle rider who can be patient with him. For all his faults, Beiarth has a big, gentle heart--and what he wants most is to please his rider.

Mindvoice:

Warm and resonant. Somewhat musical like Podarth's, but far deeper and stronger. When he's particularly trying to attract attention or impress someone, his voice resounds with loud thrums and deep coos.

Mezuth; the Rocky Mountain Bronze

user posted image

Name: Mezuth (meh-zooth)
Colour: Bronze
Hex Code: #8b6839
Age: 0 [h. 09.08]
Height: 17.3hh
-- This dragon has search sense.

Appearance:

Bronze Mezuth is a big and sturdy dragon, with wide shoulders and powerful, broad wings. He is very strong and will be capable of lasting through a whole Fall. Mezuth’s face is, perhaps, somewhat stern, but he has bright eyes and is gentle in his movements.

Mezuth is perhaps a bit dull in coloring, but despite that his hide is very striking. He is dappled all along his neck and shoulders and back with a bright blaze down his nose. His wings, toes and the tip of his tail are much brighter than the rest of him, and when his wings are stretched wide, they gleam in the sunlight.

Personality:

Mezuth is somewhat stern, and he possesses a great understanding of what is to come. As a result, he tends to be a little gloomy at times: he is well aware that their lives will be dangerous, and despite his gruff countenance, Mezuth has a kind heart and a love for others. It pains him to know that many will suffer as a result of Thread.

Because of this, he takes his job very seriously. He works hard and has a protective streak a mile wide—Mezuth knows that the best way to ensure that those he loves are taken care of is to throw himself whole-heartedly into his training. He will need a rider to remind him that he needs to let loose and enjoy himself once in awhile. This may at times be hard, for Mezuth is resulute and unyielding—if his rider is not careful, they will find that this means he is stubborn.

Still, Mezuth is generous and kind. He is always willing to share his space at others, and he is a wonderful listener. He understands and is capable of reading people very well, and he may to best with a rider who will not allow Mezuth to give his all to others at the expense of himself. One day, however, he will surely be a dragon that others are proud to follow.

Voice:

Low and resonant, but not loud. When Mezuth speaks, others listen, and they trust his judgement. Mezuth’s voice is gentle and soothing, and rarely raised in anger. If there does happen to be something that upsets him, his voice rumbles like thunder in the distance.

Podarth; the Saddlebred Bronze

user posted image

Name: Podarth (poh-darth)
Colour: Bronze
Hex Code: #c57039
Age: 0 [h. 09.08]
Height: 17.3hh

Appearance:

Podarth is a handsome bronze, and he knows it. His hide is bright and coppery, and it gleams in the light, where it becomes evident that there are pale speckles dotted across his body. He is lean and carries himself with elegance, even when walking. His wings are long and broad, and slightly darker than the rest of him. When extended, they seem to glimmer, and in the air he often shifts them so that they catch on the sunshine. Though the majority of his hide is richly colored, he has light feet and a pale star on his forehead.

While Podarth is not the biggest or the bulkiest bronze, he is in possession of strong shoulders and hindquarters, which give him great power as he leaps into the air. As a bronze, he’s capable of lasting for a whole Fall, though he is perhaps a bit more maneuverable than his larger brothers and sisters.

Personality:

As mentioned, Podarth is handsome and keenly aware of it, and the result is that he can at times be full of himself. If others stop short at the sight of him, unable to help gazing at him in admiration then, well, is that not what he deserves? Podarth’s rider will be encouraged to keep him well-oiled, so that his hide will shine as it should.

Despite this, Podarth is gentle and soft-hearted. He enjoys the finer things in life and feels that everyone should have the chance to live in luxury. It hurts his heart to see others in pain, and his rider will find that Podarth does wish to help whoever he can, even if he sometimes balks at getting his feet dirty.

Unfortunately, Podarth is not a practical thinker. His head is often in the clouds, and though he wishes to do all he can to aid others, he does not always come up with the most useful ideas. On the other hand, Podarth is always ready with a word of encouragement, and when one is hurting they can trust Podarth to find the silver lining to any clouds. He sees beauty in everything and is particularly find of art and music. He might do best with a rider who also loves these things and who can keep his spirits up in the face of suffering.

Voice:

Podarth’s voice is musical and lilting, and his rider may find that it lulls them into sleep. Podarth is not a particularly loud dragon, and sometimes he struggles to be heard. He tends not to speak very much in general, however, for he is often too busy with his daydreaming.

Tulcath; the Brabant Bronze

user posted image

Name: Tulcath
Colour: Bronze
Hex Code: #8e8049
Age: 0 [h. 09.08]
Height: 19hh

Appearance:

The first thing one notices about Tulcath is his size. Even as a hatchling, it’ll be obvious he will grow into a large and powerful bronze dragon: he has a heavy build, all bulk and muscle, akin to an enormous draft horse. His limbs are thick and sturdy, more than capable of supporting his large frame. Tulcath will be somewhat ungainly as a young dragon, but as he grows into his girth, he will grow to be well-proportioned. He will never be as flashy or striking as some of the other bronzes, but there is a mellow and subtle sort of beauty to him. His hide is overall a green-tinted bronze, with saturated, burnished undertones. The burnished bronze is most evident around his limbs and underbelly, while his back fades to a paler, patina-like tone. Darker, deep brown points cover his legs, tail, and nose, while his muzzle is edged in a paler colour.

Tulcath’s most striking feature are his dark, burnished-bronze wings. They catch the eye with their bright, glossy sheen; the green-golden tones will be especially obvious in the sunlight. Lengthy and broad, they will serve him well; his sheer size means that he will never be very agile, but there is no doubt he will grow into an exceptionally enduring and steady flier. Despite his size, he moves with great care and unbefitting hesitation.

Personality:

Tulcath may be a large dragon—but he does all he can to seem smaller than he is. Wary and shy, he is skittish and quiet. He is nervous of crowds and new people, preferring to keep his head down (and hopefully as close to his rider as possible). As a hatchling he’ll often want to be carried, and as a grown dragon, it will be almost comical to see the vast bronze attempting to crouch behind his much smaller rider.

It would be wrong to assume that Tulcath is entirely a coward, however. He is tireless and hard-working, always throwing himself into whatever task is required of him without any complaint. As a Thread-fighter he will be a solid and reliable partner, and will always do his best to help his rider and his wingmates as best as he can. Partly due to his physical strength, and partly as a result of his own determination, he will never be one to give up early—he will usually be among one of the last dragons flying at the end of a ‘Fall.

Though he may unintentionally appear aloof and cold to anyone besides his rider, the truth is that Tulcath doesn’t dislike company. He is simply very shy and insecure, and very uncertain of his own abilities; his rider will have to encourage him to reach out to others, and to teach him some confidence in himself. Those who get to know him, including his rider, will find that Tulcath has a warm, caring heart. He is fiercely loyal, seeking as much as possible to protect his rider and his rider’s loved ones. He will never have many friends—but he values the relationships he does have immensely. It will be up to his rider to encourage the dragon to come out of his shell, to show him that he is valuable.

And though Tulcath is often careful, thoughtful--he has a big heart, and is prone to sharp fluctuations in his mood. His doubts and fears cloud him, but he is a fighter, through and through--and he is nothing if not enduring and determined. Tulcath will do his best to buoy his rider up during dark times--to pull the both of them through together.

Mindvoice:

A rustling of leaves, a faint breeze tugging at your hair: Tulcath’s voice is always quiet and soft, easily drowned out by those who speak loudly. A careful listener will find it is surprisingly light and musical in tone, flowing swiftly through the mind. It is not warm, but not cold either—there is a cool sort of clarity to it, like the clear water of a forest brook.

Arioth; the Thoroughbred Brown

user posted image

Name: Arioth (air-ee-oth)
Colour: Brown
Hex Code: #98371c
Age: 0 [h. 09.08]
Height: 17hh

Appearance:

Arioth is strong and lean, and his dark red-brown hide is strikingly handsome. He has darker points, and one pale sock on his hind foot. He seems to be built for speed, with narrow wings and long legs. He does not, however, have much in the way of stamina—he may be fast, but it’s unlikely that he has the strength to last a whole Fall or some of the longer gold-flights, and he tires quickly. As a result, his rider will find that he must often be fed to keep his energy up.

Arioth’s neck is arched and elegant, and his head is shapely with bright eyes—eyes which often seem to have a hint of fire burning in them. His tail is long and whip-like, though as a hatchling he will be gangly and prone to tripping over it like a wobbly colt. Once fully grown, however, Arioth will be all grace, at least in flight. He’ll be capable of making turns that many of the bronzes and golds will never manage.

Personality:

Spirited and energetic, Arioth finds he must always be on the move. He prefers not to be idle, and sitting still tends to make him anxious. His energy is best put to training, and he takes this duty very seriously. He does not, however, take well to orders and may sometimes chafe at working with others when he can go his own way instead. Arioth is bold and prone to defiance—his rider will have their hands full trying to keep him in line, for Arioth is unlikely to respond well to authority. His rider will have to learn to manage him; perhaps they find that it is easiest to make orders seem as if they were Arioth’s idea in the first place, but if they can convince him to do as he is told, they will find that Arioth is a competent and eager dragon.

A consequence of Arioth’s bold and defiant spirit is that he is extremely competitive. Combined with his hot-headedness, his rider may find that he cannot say no to a challenge, which might get him into trouble. Arioth does not like to lose and will never back down if challenged. His rider will have to help him learn that there is no shame in losing sometimes, but must take care not to rein him in too much, for his drive will help him to face Thread with great courage.

Arioth is a dragon who rarely gives up. He will try and try again until he is successful, and he will push his rider to do better too. With a companion who can both temper and encourage his spirit, Arioth will grow into a valuable and trusted member of any wing.

Voice:

Bright and warm, Arioth’s voice crackles like a well-built fire. It can flare painfully when he is angry or otherwise upset, but mostly it burns steadily and determinedly. He is a somewhat talkative dragon and one who is prone to arguments—Arioth has no qualms about speaking his mind, and when he wishes to be listened to, he will make sure that he is heard.

Henth; the Finnhorse Brown

user posted image

Name: Henth
Colour: Brown
Hex Code: #7f4f35
Age: 0 [h. 09.08]
Height: 16.1hh

Appearance:

A well-built and hardy brown, Henth is a prime example of his colour’s reputation for being the workhorses among dragons. He is strong and well-muscled, yet lacks the sheer bulk and size of the larger bronzes. Comparatively smaller and lighter, he is gifted with a good balance of speed and strength—suited to a variety of different roles. He does not carry himself with any sense of grace or vanity: there is always a quiet humbleness about the way he stands and moves. But his bright, soft eyes draw attention—and no one can argue that he isn’t well-proportioned.

His warm brown hide is simple and plain; it is his heart that makes this dragon stand out, not his looks. His underbelly is faintly lighter than the rest of him, while the undersides of his wing membranes are much paler, and he possesses pale sock-like markings on each of his legs. A pale strip is streaked down the top of his head like a brushstroke.

Personality:

A quieter dragon, Henth does not often make his voice heard to others—but those who do hear it will at once recognize the genuine friendliness within it. Henth is neither shy nor asocial: he is simply more of a listener than a speaker. Kind and gentle, he always stops to hear what others want to express—never wanting to leave anyone drowned out, especially his rider. He will always be there to offer an accepting, supportive ear for his rider.

He is mild and calm, but that does not mean he is lazy. Underneath his composed exterior, he is alert and lively; he will always have a cheery disposition. He is brightly optimistic, always trying to make the best of any situation, and is eager to meet every new face. Henth is energetic and endlessly patient, rarely tiring of anything—which may be rather exhausting to deal with as a hatchling, but will make him into an excellent Thread-fighter. Eager to fly and work, he does not take his duty lightly—but it is undeniable that he enjoys it. He takes pleasure in the feeling of a job well-done, and his rider will at come to see that the brown will tend towards overworking himself.

Henth is fundamentally a simple and honest dragon, and when he does voice his thoughts, he is always sincere. He is a people-pleaser, always wanting to do right by others; he prefers to avoid conflict as much as possible. Anger makes him uncomfortable, and he never likes to be the one to stand up and tell someone off. The dragons’ pacifist nature is especially obvious when it comes to Henth—indeed, he does not even harbour ill will towards Thread: he merely views its destruction as a necessity. Should anyone direct their anger at him, he will simply shoulder it with quietness--always answering with calm and reason.

Gentle, caring, and peaceful, Henth will do his best to offer a solid shoulder for his rider whenever they need it. Henth is at his core non-judgmental; he always tries to see the best in everyone around him, including his rider. His memory is not the best, and he certainly isn’t one to keep grudges—he’s always willing to give others a second chance and to try and see things from their point of view, even if he doesn’t agree. He doesn’t understand how risky this is, or realize that it might be a bad idea; their rider may find that as their dragon grows, they will need to take on a supportive role to keep their dragon out of harm's way, too.

Mindvoice:

Strong, gravelly, down-to-earth: a sense of reliability and assuredness permeates the dragon's voice. Crisp and clear, the scent of pinewood, a little rough around the edges—but undeniably warm. Henth’s voice is even and gentle: not so soft that it is hard to hear, but he never speaks over-loudly.

Russath; the American Paint Horse Brown

user posted image

Name: Russath
Colour: Brown
Hex Code: #9a5346
Age: 0 [h. 09.08]
Height: 16hh
-- This dragon has search sense.

Appearance:

Like his brother Picath, Russath sticks out with his colourful hide. His hide is a rich, reddish brown overlaid with irregular pale patches, resembling a chestnut pinto horse. His wing membranes, belly, and tail are covered in large blocks of the paler brown, with a darker saddle-like patch on his back--as if someone had run a paint brush diagonally down along his flank and back up at his shoulder.

Russath has a short, tough build, with powerful hindquarters--much like a stock-horse. His wings are narrowed, better suited to sharp dives and turns than endurance flying. He is agile and swift, with a good amount of power in his limbs. His rider will find him well-suited to a multitude of roles within the wing.

Personality:

Russath seems to be eternally a child at heart. Playful and mischievous, Russath is vividly energetic and eager. He bores easily, always seeking something new, something fun--a game to play, a new friend to make. And he'll always insist on bringing his rider along. Indeed, his rider will find there's never a dull moment with Russath: the cheerful brown will do his best to show his rider all the fun things there are to do.

He is always optimistic, warm--cheerful; even when faced with frightening situations, he treats with it a bright sort of levity. He has his rider, after all, and he's certain that they can face anything together. Curious and amiable, friends among both humans and dragons will come easily to him. Though he is occasionally prone to clumsiness, Russath's heart is kind and good: more than anything, what he wants is to see his rider happy. And he'll do his best to always put a smile on their face, whatever that requires him to do.

Ultimately, however, Russath is a bit directionless. Russath doesn't much like confrontation or conflict--and he doesn't have much ambition, either. He's perfectly content to spend his days playing and relaxing, easily forgetting about the responsibilities that are owed of him. It will be up to his rider to keep him focused and on track--and to keep the brown out of trouble, too. Russath is a bit of a trickster, and while he never means to cause trouble for others, his pranks can go awry.

Mindvoice:

At first quiet, soft--and then it seems to burst into the mind with a hearty, eager laugh. His voice varies immensely with the mood and situation: sometimes no more than a whisper on the wind, sometimes a loud, lively bugle.
